Veracelle Vega is a human capital executive with over 20 years of delivering and building high performing companies. She joined Boxed this past March 2022 as Chief People Officer. Her responsibilities include leading and developing all People strategies including organizational effectiveness, talent management, employee engagement, compensation and total rewards, learning + development and talent acquisition and creating a world class work culture with a focus on DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging).
Most recently, Veracelle served as the Chief People Officer at Resident, the direct-to-consumer mattress company where she led the company to be awarded and recognized as a "Best Place to Work" organization three years in a row by BuiltInNYC.com.
Veracelle’s earlier experience includes leadership roles in human resources spanning diverse industries including technology and entertainment, notably 21st Century Fox and News Corp, and various tech startups. She started her HR career as a Presidential Management Fellow during which she held assignments at the Social Security Administration and the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.
Veracelle is a frequent podcast contributor and panelist on talent development and company culture transformation through positive change.
She is also an alumni of the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program, where she taught English as a Second Language in Oita City, Japan.
Veracelle received a M.S. in public administration from Villanova University, a B.S. in political science from Syracuse University, and is a part-time adjunct professor at Villanova University where she teaches Human Resources Management. She is also a Board Trustee at Saint Saviour Catholic Academy in Park Slope. Veracelle lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Christopher Hansen and their three children.
